Persimmon secures approval for 220 St Helens homes

Persimmon has secured planning approval for 220 homes at Garswood in St Helens.

The development will include homes ranging from one- to five-bedrooms across bungalows, terraced, semi-detached, detached and apartments. All will be fitted with air source heat pumps and EV charging points.

Of these homes, 66 will be designated either for affordable rent or intermediate low-cost home ownership options which accounts for 30% of the development.

The housebuilder is also making over £2m in contributions to services and infrastructure in the area, including £660,000 for local schools.

In addition, 2.75 hectares of public open space will be present on the site, alongside 488 new trees and 394 meters of new native hedgerows.

“We are pleased that St Helens Council has approved these plans for 220 much-needed, high-quality homes at Garswood,” said Ian Hilliker, managing director at Persimmon North West.

“We look forward to working with St Helens Council to deliver these new homes and ensure our investment brings real benefits for the local community.”
